She began practicing yoga in 2006 in Washington, DC where her first teacher, Margaret Townsend, taught her that a peace-full practice is a power-full practice. Meggie moved to Houston in 2009 to study creative writing and received an MFA in poetry from the University of Houston. She is a writer, an editor, and the Director of Community Initiatives & Development for Writers in the Schools, a nonprofit organization that engages youth in the joy and power of reading and writing. What Meggie's Students Say
Yoga has saved my life by helping me re-connect with the calm and still side of my brain. For years I was full of tension, self-induced anxiety, and stress... Yoga has helped me to be free of worries and of what people think of me, or whatever happened throughout the day. In the three years of being in Meggie’s class, I have gained self-esteem and confidence to accomplish anything I set my mind to.
