Who Chelsea Is For You

Through teaching yoga, Chelsea has something unique to offer. She embraces her own peculiarities and confidence that allows her to release fear and show up 100% authentically for her students so that they can be inspired to do the same. Just like her own yoga practice, Chelsea’s teaching style is ever-evolving, yet consistently challenging and intentional to “maintain freshness” for her students. Chelsea’s nature is laid back, funny, and compassionate, yet scientific and disciplined, which supports her in her role to hold her students accountable for realizing their greatest strengths. Chelsea is committed to guiding her students through experiences that leave them feeling revitalized as the highest version of themselves and ready to take on the world.

About Chelsea

Chelsea is a certified RYT-500 yoga instructor, having completed her 200-hr certification through BIG’s Teacher Empowerment Program in January 2017 and 300-hr through The BIG Upgrade in January 2019. Chelsea’s journey with yoga began in 2007, when her mom brought her to a Bikram yoga class, where she immediately became addicted to the discipline of the practice. After moving to Colorado for grad school in 2012, she branched out to other types of yoga, which sparked her spiritual path through the yoga philosophy. Chelsea eventually landed at BIG Power Yoga in Houston in 2015, where she fell even deeper in love with her yoga practice, and has been teaching since spring of 2017. Off the mat, Chelsea is a geologist, an avid rock climber and mountain biker, and has two awesome cats, Carl Sagan and Georgia Peaches.

What Chelsea's Students Say

Chelsea has easily become one of my favorite teachers at BIG and a friend face I always look forward to seeing Wednesday mornings at 5:45am! She’s worth getting up for! Chelsea was the first to introduce me to the “Eight Limbs” of yoga during class and I was so intrigued, I’ve since borrowed a book on the subject to gain more insight myself.

Chelsea brings the fire, passion, authenticity and fun to each and every practice. She makes me want to work harder for myself and inspires me to try new things on my mat (which I’m sometimes fearful of). I love that each class is different and that she’s clearly put thought into the sequence.

I’ve been practicing yoga since 2000 and Baptiste yoga since BIG opened at Memorial, so I’ve had my fair share of teachers. Chelsea is the real deal and I am so honored I was asked to write her testimonial. I hope I do her and what she brings to the BIG community justice.
