Who Katie Is For You
Katie is committed to creating an inclusive space for her students to experience and explore their own practices of deep rest, grounding and balance.
I began studying and practicing yoga regularly as a college student in Ohio. Here, I had the opportunity to develop an Ashtanga practice, and study Hindu and yogic philosophies as part of the curriculum of my Religion major. During my post-graduate years, my interest and dedication to yoga and meditation continued to deepen. I completed my 200 teacher training at the Shoshoni Ashram in Colorado, part of the Shambhava Yoga lineage, in 2013, and have been teaching ever since. I have taught restorative and vinyasa yoga in numerous settings to diverse groups of students including Radiance Power Yoga, Yoga in Your Park, Kaiser Permanente, as well as privately prior to finding my yoga home at BIG Power Yoga Denver in 2017. I am passionate about brining the gift of rest to BIG power yogis in Denver!
I hold a Masters Degree from Naropa University in Environmental Leadership, and a Master of Social from the Metropolitan State University of Denver. When I am not practicing or teaching yoga at BIG, I work as a Treatment Therapist on the Integrated Behavioral Health team at Denver Health.
What Katie's Students Say
I really look forward to this class with Katie, as it's one of the few times I'm encouraged to relax and just, and it's exactly what I need. I also really love when she asks us to roll our blankets into hotdogs when we need them for the supported poses! It adds a touch of fun and always makes me smile.
